In 2016, the New York Mets announced the signing of outfielder Tim Tebow to their minor league development system. Turning 29 years old in August, Tebow will join the New York Mets Instructional League in Port St. Lucie, Florida.

Having played collegiate football, Tim won the Heisman Trophy in 2007 at the University of Florida and was on the Florida Gators 2006 and 2008 National Championship teams. After his collegiate career, he played professional football in the National Football League with the Denver Broncos and the New York Jets from 2010 to 2012. Tebow was also on the pre-season team roster with the New England Patriots in 2013 and the Philadelphia Eagles in 2015. After deciding to transition to baseball, the New York Mets will be the first professional baseball team Tim Tebow has played for.
